Unedited Film Still is the appropriation of three photographs from Cindy Sherman’s series Untitled Film Stills (1978).
Particularly intrigued by the female character who relates to the generation of her grandmother, the artist created fake archive of Cindy Sherman’s photographs: a super 8 video of a woman wandering in the streets of a big city, and a contact sheet revealing the pictures the photographer would have not chosen for her series.
In infiltrating these photographs and creating a ghost of this character, Deschamps attempts to revive the memory of a woman hunted by her own image and who endlessly tries to escape from it.
